❓ Fortnite Sprites — Frequently Asked Questions
Quick, straight answers to the most-searched questions about Fortnite Sprites — how many there are, how to unlock them, what the finishes mean, and where they go each season.
How many Fortnite Sprites are there?
As of October 2026 there are 263 released Sprite variants — 50 Sprite characters, each in several finishes — across two generations: the Season 3 “Runners” roster and the current Season 4 “Override” generation (25 characters so far). Epic adds more most seasons, and this tracker updates as they drop. Browse them all on the Sprites checklist.
How do you get Sprites in Fortnite?
In Season 4 “Override” you unlock Sprites mainly by entering Hack the Lobby (Admin Panel) codes in the Battle Royale lobby and by finding in-world Cheat Codes during matches. Earlier “Runners”-generation Sprites dropped from chests. See the full list on the Lobby Hacks page and the how-to on the Sprites guide.
What is a Cheat Master Sprite?
Cheat Master is a special Season 4 finish — a flashier, rarer version of an Override Sprite. You unlock them with specific lobby codes (for example, GOTTAGOFAST for the Cheat Master Sonic), and their spawns are boosted during Power Hours. See the full list of Cheat Master Sprites, which codes unlock them on the Lobby Hacks page, and when on the events schedule.
What is the Loot Hacker finish?
Loot Hacker is an Override finish that went live on Sep 10, 2026 — 14 new Loot Hacker variants (15 incl. the Crown). Holding one gives a +20% (1.2×) chance of Loot Hack items from Chests. Not to be confused with Loot Hacks (the weapons you buy with Sprite Dust). More on finishes and Dust in the Dust and Loot Hacks guide.
What is the Bounty Hunter finish?
Bounty Hunter is a Season 4 “Override” finish (added in v42.20) that went live across the roster on Sep 24, 2026 — there are 24 Bounty Hunter Sprites in all. You don’t get them from Dust or chests: a Bounty Hunter Sprite has a chance to appear when you eliminate an opponent, and it levels up from eliminations rather than from chests — so you build it by fighting. The Bounty Hunter Crown was the first to drop (win a match with the Loot Hacker Crown equipped). Spawns are boosted during Bounty Hunter Power Hours — see the events schedule — and you can track every one on the checklist.
What do the Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, Gem and Holofoil finishes mean?
Finishes are alternate looks that also add a small bonus perk on top of a Sprite’s base ability. Broadly: Gold is the premium shiny; Gummy, Galaxy, Gem and Holofoil are rarer collectible finishes from past seasons; and the current Override finishes are Cheat Master, Loot Hacker and Bounty Hunter. Every finish shares the Sprite’s core ability and layers its own bonus on top. Each Sprite page lists exactly which finishes it has and what each one grants — start from the checklist.
What are Power Hours and Mastery Monday?
They’re Fortnite’s recurring Sprite events. Power Hours (usually two windows on Saturdays) boost the spawn rate of a specific finish — the ideal window to fill in the Gold, Cheat Master or Loot Hacker Sprites you’re missing. Mastery Monday gives 2× Sprite XP and Sprite Dust for 24 hours, the fastest day to level and master Sprites. New Sprite Day (Thursdays) is when new Sprites drop. Live countdowns, and which finish each event boosts, are on the events page.
Can you trade Sprites in Fortnite?
Not inside Fortnite itself — there’s no in-game trade feature, so collectors coordinate trades within the community. FN Sprite Tracker has a trade board to help you find people who have the Sprite you need and need one you have. See how to trade Sprites for the safe way to do it, and steer clear of “free Sprite” or “locker value” sites, which are phishing scams.
What happens to my Sprites when the season or chapter ends?
You keep them. Epic has confirmed Sprites are permanent — every one you collect stays in your Collection and the in-game Sprite Garden forever, even after its generation stops being used in Battle Royale. What resets between seasons is consumable: Sprite Dust, Extractors and Locators, so spend your Dust before a flip. The season-transition FAQ covers exactly what carries over.
What are the rarest Fortnite Sprites?
Rarity comes down to drop rate and finish. See every Sprite ranked rarest-first on the rarest Sprites page, sort the full checklist by rarity on the Sprites page, and check how strong each one is on the tier list.
What is the best Sprite in Fortnite?
“Best” depends on the ability. Our tier list ranks every Sprite S–C by how useful its ability is in the current Season 4 “Override” meta, and logged-in players vote on the Override Sprites so you can watch the community consensus form.
How do you level up and master a Sprite?
Use a Sprite in matches to level it up; its ability gets stronger at each level, up to Level 5. The abilities guide shows exactly what every Sprite does and how it scales.
What is Sprite Dust and how do you get it?
Sprite Dust is the currency behind finishes and Loot Hacks. You earn it through play and from certain lobby codes, and redeeming a code for a Sprite you already own converts to Dust instead. The Dust and Loot Hacks guide covers earning and spending it.
Are Fortnite Sprites free?
Yes — every Sprite is obtainable through normal gameplay and free lobby codes, with no paywall to collect them (50 codes are working right now). FN Sprite Tracker is free and fan-made too.
Do Sprites work in Ranked?
Sprites appear in Ranked, but their abilities are disabled there — so in Ranked they are purely cosmetic, and only give gameplay effects in regular modes.
Can you still get the Season 3 Sprites?
No — the Season 3 “Runners” Sprites are archived and can no longer be obtained in Battle Royale. Any you already collected are kept forever in your Sprite Garden. The season-transition FAQ explains the switch.
What is the Sprite Garden?
The Sprite Garden is a personal island where your whole collection lives and stays displayable forever, even after a Sprite’s generation rotates out of Battle Royale. The Garden guide has the island code and how it works.
When do new Fortnite Sprites come out?
New Sprites usually arrive on “New Sprite Day” each season, with finish hours and Power Hours events in between. The events schedule lists the recurring events and their usual times, and the news feed tracks the latest drops.
Is FN Sprite Tracker made by Epic Games?
No. FN Sprite Tracker is an independent, fan-made project — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Epic Games. Roster and rates are community-cross-referenced and clearly labelled when unconfirmed.
Are “free Sprite” or “check your locker value” sites and DMs scams?
Usually, yes — treat them as scams. Two common Fortnite scams are going around: someone DMing that you’ve “won a prize, claim it here,” and “check your locker value” sites or Discords. Both aim to phish your Epic Games login. Never enter your Epic/Fortnite password on a random site, don’t click suspicious links or join random Discords, and be very suspicious of anyone who DMs you a reward — block and report them. FN Sprite Tracker is fan-made and will never DM you or ask for your Epic password; any tracker account you make here is separate from your Epic login.
